Had a great time today, at the Homestead Craft Fair in Elm Mott, Texas. For those of you not familiar with Elm Mott, its just north of Waco.
The Craft Fair is held every year by the Center for Essential Education. They showcase a lot of "old timey" skills like horse farming, candle making, weaving, blacksmithing, and the like. There are demonstrations of many of these skill through out the day, and a huge pavillion where you can find pottery, woven goods, stained glass, and many other wares for sale by the local craftmen (and women).
There's lots of good food to eat, interesting things to see (and buy), and best of all its free to get in. All you have to do is pay $5 per vehicle to park.
The Center also offers classes in many old homesteading skills throughout the year. You can find information on the Craft Fair, and the Center for Essential Education at their website.
