Last week, something caught my eye as I drove around the city going about my daily grind. There's an automotive shop near City Hall. They do a pretty brisk business, and seem to specialize in antique and vintage autos. There always seems to be two or three interesting old beauties parked out front waiting to be worked on.
This week there was an odd one that I had never seen the likes of before:
Its a 1962 Chevrolet Station Wagon - but it has 8 doors instead of 4! I guess technically it has 9 doors, if you count the rear gate.
I've never seen one like it, and I'm almost positive that Chevy never rolled a stretch station wagon off the assembly line. I'm sure it is someone's project - and man it looks pretty cool to me!

is it morbid that i automatically thought this was a large hurse??
very neat find Paladin.
No more morbid than it is for me to actually consider buying an old hearse from the 1940's to restore - I'd love to do it. My Mrs. just rolls her eyes when I bring the subject up :)
Too Cool!
Paladin, you and I are scarily alike some days...lol...
They get the coolest cars at that shop. Some days driving by that place is like going to a car show.
I saw this car on the road today! Looking around the internet to find more info on it.
Those and similar used to be extremely common in the days before vans, that color looks like Yellow Cab color, these were used to transport people between the airport and hotels. One driver could carry transport many more people than using a standard cab.
