We had plans to attend a cool auction event yesterday, but continuous waves of thunderstorms rolling through kept us close to home instead. It was outside the small town of Clarita, Oklahoma, way out in the middle of nowhere.
These are all pics from the event LAST year:
The event and the drive around that area are perfect for the Mrs and I to scratch the Photography Itch.... My kinda place :)
On the second weekend of September every year, the Amish community has a benefit auction and sale to raise money for their school. They auction antiques, hand made quilts, farm animals/equipment, etc. There are tents with people selling hand made furniture, baked goods, and all sorts of interesting stuff.
They even have a couple of Amish families that run big ice cream freezers and sell homemade icecream!
We went last year, and it drizzled on us the whole time - but it was still a fun day. We've been looking forward to this all year, and it was a bummer to have the weather just too nasty to bother this year.
Ah well.... there's always next year.
