This week's Girl Friday features an actress from the early years of Hollywood.
Raquel Torres
Raquel Torres was a Mexican born actress who had a brief career during the early days of Hollywood's Golden Age. She's probably best known today for her appearance in "Duck Soup", a Marx Brothers movie made in 1933.
Raquel Torres passed away from a heart attack in 1987.

Would like to find a date for the photo of the star standing by the radio cabinet. My grandparents had one just like it (sans the radio) and I inherited it. Still in very good shape, too. I've seen photos of the movie star, but didn't know her name.
Grannyb - I'm not positive, but I think the radio is a Philco. You might ask around at http://www.philcoradio.com and see if anyone there can date it for you. The website is a forum for old philco collectors. At least that might start you in the right direction...
