Girl Friday - 11/19/2010 - Rhonda Fleming
Sorry for the scarcity of posts this week. I started out with an intestinal bug or something (yuck..), and family/work kept me busy as usual. Next week may be even worse, with the combination of Thanksgiving Holidays and a protracted work on-call rotation.
Girl Friday perseveres, however, thanks to Blogger's ability to pre-schedule posts :)
Those of you that have been around here a while are aware that I have one or two "things" in regards to the fairer sex - as in, "I have a thing about women with/wearing/doing ______".
Ok, who am I kidding. I have a whole grocery list of "things". One of those things happens to be Redheads. This week's Girl Friday is one of my favorite redheads of all time:
Rhonda Fleming

Rhonda Fleming started her acting career while still in High School in California, appearing in several uncredited roles. She went on after graduation to appear in over 40 films in the 1940's and 50's, earning the nickname "The Queen of Technicolor". Her complexion and hair color were a perfect match for the newly developed Technicolor format.
Ms. Fleming also starred in three different 3-D movies in the 1950's, when they were all the rage at drive-in movies.
Rhonda has involved herself in many charity endeavors, mainly in the area of Cancer care and research, since retiring from movies. When I see her in pictures, or in films, the word that immediately leaps to mind is "Class".
Two of my all time favs (for different reasons) in one picture.....

One of her earlier films, Out of the Past, is my favorite Rhonda Fleming movie. She wasn’t so nice in that one, trying to set up Mitchum for murdering her boss.
She is really beautiful, and in that classy way. Currious to know her heritage... she looks Russian to me. I will have to google her.
hrmm.
well, i suppose that will be a mistery. Seems that her image of being a born-and-bread California girl is too thick to tarnish with the blood lines of the past.
Too bad. I was really interested.
Wilson - Sometimes being the "bad girl" just adds to the appeal :)
Xmichra - Yeah. But at least we know that after 6 trips down the aisle she's pretty much worked the bugs out of the getting married thingy!
That picture of her with the suede skirt and leather gloves is totally classy.
