How long it takes Hacking software to bust your password, depending upon the password you choose:


I knew it was a good idea to beef up your passwords. I didn't realize, though, just how much difference it makes adding one or two additional characters to your password - or mixing numbers, upper/lower case, or symbols into the mix for that matter.

It's certainly a worry, but making a password too complicated to hack has to be balanced with having a password that isn't so complicated you keep forgetting the damn thing.

Helps to keep your personal passwords for blogs etc different than your banking etc too. Generally speaking, hacking into blogger (or such) is much simpler than hacking into the American express site ;)

Also helps to not have things that are obvious (like birthdays of you or others in your family, family names, pet names).

Lots to do to protect yourself. Lot's to ignore when one gets lazy ;)
