Hey, if the SyFy channel can have Sharktopus I can have a Skupossum.
I've seen several of the black color variant in the opossums around here, but this is the first that I've come across with a prominent white stripe down its back like a skunk. Pretty weird....
Oh, and don't try this at home. Opossums have lots of very sharp teeth and can whip around and get you a lot faster than you think they are capable of.

Tango - Hatcam had dead batteries. I took this pic by holding the skupossum with one hand, crouching down, and taking the picture with my regular camera with the other hand. The fact that my nether regions were right at eye level with that mouth full of teeth worried me a bit :)
You ain't kidding. I helped our Animal Control officer lift a caged possum into her truck. As soon as I touched it he hit the side of the cage, wicked claws grasping, mouth wide open and showing a pretty impressive dentition. Scared the crap out of me. I have a very healthy respect for the damage one could to to my soft, pink flesh.
The critters with white strips down their backs...we like to call "racing cats" ;)
I've always thought possum as the nastiest animal around...but now I see proof that they are Miller Lite drinkers, I may have to re-think this
LB - They are pretty nasty... and they taste even worse than they look. Long story - don't ask :)
