Posting will be extremely light for the foreseeable future. Our five person crew at work is going to be down by 3 people off and on for the next couple of weeks due to injury, vacations, and stupidity on the part of my former boss who just got fired.
I'll leave you with this, for now. I heard this morning that Social Security is projected to go tits-up in only 21 years now. Believe me, it will be sooner than that. I'll be 68 in 21 years. Perfect.
If you are close to my age or younger, and haven't already, give up on any notion that Social Security will be any benefit to you in retirement. Make plans to take care of yourself. No one else is going to, least of all the Government.

Missed you at the blogshoot, Paladin.
I took a personal finance course ten years ago. Throughout the course, the instructor required a response of "Scam!" every time he mentioned Social Security (which was often). I am fairly confident that it will be there for my wife should anything happen to me over the next seven years or so until the youngest is out of high school; beyond that, it does not factor into my financial plan.
My dad was telling me 30 years ago that social security wouldn't be around by the time I retired. He wasn't sure it would be around when he retired.
Heard on the radio today that SS was 5% underfunded last year and projected to be around 15% underfunded this year. I'd say it's likely to go tits up much sooner than 21 years.
I'm 60, and I'm not sure it will be around when I'm old enough to get it.
It amazes me that people are still relying on SS for retirement. Really?! Are you that stupid to think it's going to be here? Even in 5, 10 or 20 years? It's factored into our retirement plan as "a night out to dinner at McDonald's but can only order off the dollar menu"
